Cristiano Ronaldo ends transfer speculation, extends Al Nassr contract until 2027. Here’s all you need to know about his new lucrative deal
Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to stay at Al Nassr despite rumours about him leaving after a disappointing season. The club confirmed on Thursday that he’s signed a new two-year contract.
“A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together,” the 40-year-old wrote on his official Instagram account.
The announcement has put an end to weeks of uncertainty about Ronaldo’s future with Al Nassr. After the 2024-25 season, he sparked rumours with a vague social media post that said: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.” Many took this as a sign that he might leave, but with the new contract, he has confirmed that he’s staying.
According to Goal.com, Ronaldo received a signing bonus of approximately £24.5 million (around Rs 287 crore), which may increase to £38 million (over Rs 440 crore) if he stays for a second year. According to The Sun, Ronaldo’s salary is more than £1 million (about Rs 11 crore) every two days.
Over the course of two years, his total earnings could reach £492 million (around Rs 5,700 crore) and potentially exceed £500 million if he meets certain bonus targets. These bonuses include £4 million (approximately Rs 46 crore) for winning the Golden Boot and £8 million (about Rs 93 crore) if Al Nassr secures the league title. According to the Daily Mail, the Saudi club has also offered him a 15% ownership stake valued at around £33 million (over Rs 380 crore).
At present, Ronaldo earns about $50 million (around Rs 427 crore) off the field from sponsorships, equity, and other sources, reports The Week.
According to a Times of India report, the Portuguese star joined the club in 2022 for a deal valued at a whopping $250 million (Rs 2100 crore). In the latest season, Al Nassr ended up third in the league standings, which means they won’t be participating in the top-tier AFC Champions League Elite next year. Instead, they’ll compete in the AFC Champions League 2. The club is also without a head coach at the moment, as Stefano Pioli stepped down on Wednesday.
